5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD STUDY THE BIBLE

One of the greatest challenge Christians face is the inability to read and understand the bible. They feel that no matter how they try to study it, they always fail to understand it. And the painful thing is that it has made a lot of Christians to still be babies in the Lord; that is immature Christians.
WHY SHOULD I STUDY THE BIBLE?
I think knowing why God has given us this special book will position our mind and make us ready to study it.

  1. It builds our relationship with God: When we study the bible, we learn more about God and get instructions on how to live a live that will always please Him.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (II Timothy 3:6; KJV)

God has inspired the Bible so that it will teach us His doctrine, correct when we are wrong and gives us instruction to live a godly life. Now, living a godly live will bring us closer to God. So, in other words, God inspired the Bible that our relationship with Him shall grow continually. So, whenever we study the, let these be at the back of our minds; II Timothy 3:6.

2. It is the secret to prosperity and good success: Not just reading, but meditating on His word (The      Bible) reveals who we truly are and our inheritance as children of God. When we know our inheritance and claim them, they will be ours. So how can we find out our inheritance when we have not studied the scriptures?

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (Joshua 1:8)

From the above, it is not just reading or meditating but also doing according to what is written there. That will make our way prosperous and we shall have good success.

3. It sets us free from bondage: Studying and meditating on His word will lead us into all truth; truth that will set us free. Free from ignorance, bondages of sin, hands of the enemy, etc.

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:32)

When you don’t know who you really are, you walk in ignorance. Hosea 4:6 says; “my people are destroyed because of LACK OF KNOWLEDGE…….. “; Knowledge of what? Knowledge of who God is and knowledge of who you are in God.

4. It is the weapon of our warfare: the first time I really took time to look into Ephesians 6:13 – 17, where the bible was talking about putting on the whole amour of God, I found out that every piece of God’s amour has something to do with the word. I now ran into a conclusion that for you to win your spiritual battles, you must be equipped with the word. In fact, the more things you know from the scriptures, the more powerful you are. And that is just the plain truth.

 5. So that you can teach others the truth: Someone said that we as Christians are not reservoirs but       conduits of blessings.  God has blessed you to be a blessing. So, you should study to also teach others the truth about who they are too.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (II Timothy 2:15; KJV).

Study to show yourself to God, a good workman that has nothing to do with shame. You should be ready to share what you read. Tell them the truth you have learnt and likewise set them free as you have been set free too.

God wants you to know more about Him and also know your right as His child. Start studying the scriptures now.
